Long distance calls coming in to Costa Rica will be much cheaper due to an agreement between the state-owned phone company, ICE, and the private firm Industrial Domana Internacional that was signed in April.
Domana stockholder Bernardo Castro explained that the cost overseas will be reduced by about 70%.
"That almost doubles the number of minutes that Ticos living overseas will be able to talk with their families," explained Castro.
ICE spokespeople said that phone cards can be sold in markets overseas to take advantage of the national phone network.
