Here's a show that's bound to be a howling success: The Tico Times reported this week that Cesar Milan, the cult favorite of dog lovers and canine trainer of the stars, will be in this country Jan. 28. The show is set for the National Stadium.
The popular TV performer will hand out tips on dog training and undoing of Fido's bad habits. His TV show, "Dog Whisperer with Cesar Milan" is a longtime favorite in the U.S. on Nat Geo Wild and Animal Planet here.
Not only is he a TV star but has written books on dog training and behavior modification, toured around the world and has helped the likes of Oprah Winfrey and Will Smith with pet problems.
A self-taught Mexican-American, Milan disciplines dogs without resorting to brutality, by appealing to their pack mentality and desire to follow a strong leader. Sounds easy, but anyone who ever had a pet that thought he was top dog of the family needs Milan's guidance.
Sponsored by RPM-TV Xtreme Family Entertainment, Milan will take dogs from Costa Rica whose owners have behavior problems with them (He feels there are no "bad dogs," only bad masters/mistresses.) He will also bring along some of his own pack from home to show what is possible.
Tickets range from 8,000-35,000 colones ($16-70) and are available from www.laboleteria.co.cr beginning Dec. 1. More information can be found at Milan's Web site, www.cesarsway.com
