The site navigation is fairly simple. Here you see the top menu:
This is static. The first two buttons are for accessing the latest articles on the site, either features or news. Log in to your account lets you have access to your site profile and members only areas. Register lets you create an account. And the help button takes you to this help section.

The Main Menu is dynamic . You can access the news and features sections, but as you drill down you gain access to categories within the sections. For example, you click on expert advice, and the categories within that section appear. This allows you to switch between categories as you browse through the site.
Within any category, an additional menu appears below the main menu, called "More articles on ... " This shows you the latest articles within that category. |

AddThis.com is a site that allows other web sites an easy way to share their pages in many ways. They particularly focus on sharing in social networking sites like Stumble Upon, Facebook, Linked In and Twitter. (Delicious, Digg, MySpace.... nearly 300 altogether!). You can also send links by email, add a page to your favorites or even print out a page.
The add this module appears on the rate hand side of every page on the Fijatevos.com site:
When you mouse over the module, the quick menu appears, with the social networking services that are currently the most popular. Clicking on any name will allow you to share the page within your network, either providing you a link to use, or direct access to that network, or direct sharing within your account. This will depend on your operating system, the web browser you are using, and also what security features or browser tool bars you have enabled.
If you don't see the site you are interested in using to share or bookmark the article with, then you may also click on the "more" button, in order to see a full selection of all the sites Add This supports. If you are using a site not currently supported, you may request them to incorporate that site using a request form on their site.
The following image shows the first part of the full list:

The RSS module allows you to keep track of the latest stories on Fijatevos.com, either the front page - or within particular categories of the site. You can use this in many corporate CRM systems, for example to follow the latest news. Also Google, Yahoo! and MSN allow you to add RSS news to your account dashboard.
If you are using a blogging or content management software, many of these will allow you to incorporate RSS feeds, or XML feeds into your site. Either as a core function, or through the use of plug-ins (often called extensions or components). This allows you to use our articles and stories as fresh content on your site, or to refer your visitors to the latest Costa Rica news. |

Mambots have been renamed as Plugins. Mambots were introduced in Mambo and offered possibilities to add plug-in logic to your site mainly for the purpose of manipulating content. In Joomla! 1.5, Plugins will now have much broader capabilities than Mambots. Plugins are able to extend functionality at the framework layer as well. |

In Joomla! versions prior to 1.5 there were separate processes for creating a Static Content Item and normal Content Items. The processes have been combined now and whilst both content types are still around they are renamed as Articles for Content Items and Uncategorized Articles for Static Content Items. If you want to create a static item, create a new Article in the same way as for standard content and rather than relating this to a particular Section and Category just select Uncategorized as the option in the Section and Category drop down lists. |
